The Ertiga is the most-booked car in our fleet, and the reason is simple: six seats and three to four bags cover most families without paying for more space than they need. It is the car we put on the Araku route most often — the 46-tunnel ghat section out of Visakhapatnam is not a road where you want the smallest car, and the Ertiga handles the climbs without making its passengers notice them.
It is also an honest comparison point against the Kia Carens. Both carry six. The Ertiga is lighter and slightly lower to the ground, which suits ghat driving; the Carens has a more modern cabin and a stiffer suspension setup that some passengers prefer on long expressway stretches. If the roads you are covering are mostly highway with no significant ghat section, the Carens is a real upgrade in feel. If you are going into the hills, the Ertiga's lighter build works in its favour.
The back row in a fully loaded Ertiga is fine for a few hours; on an overnight run with six adults, the middle row gets the legroom and the back row gets less. For long hauls with a full six-person party, ask us about the Toyota Rumion — it has a proper third row with more room.
