Cabs and car rental in Tirupati, with a driver.

Everything in Tirupati is arranged around one climb. The ghat road to Tirumala starts at Alipiri and it is one-way: vehicles go up the Alipiri road and come down the older ghat road, so the loop is fixed no matter who is driving. There is a vehicle check at the Alipiri toll gate, which means the climb has a queue built into it, and a darshan slot has to be planned backwards from that rather than forwards from your hotel. The road itself is a long, continuous run of bends with a strict speed limit and no overtaking. That is exactly the kind of driving that suits a local at the wheel and a family sitting quietly in the back.

Below the hill, the city has three arrival points we run to constantly. Tirupati Airport is at Renigunta, a short run east of town. Tirupati Railway Station is central and busy in the good way. Alipiri is where the walking pilgrims start, up the Alipiri Mettu steps, while the shorter Srivari Mettu path begins near Srinivasa Mangapuram on the other side. If someone in your group wants to walk up and be met at the top, either route is easy to arrange. Around the city, Tiruchanur is the customary stop after darshan and Srikalahasti sits a comfortable drive east, which is why so many trips here are really two temples rather than one.

Kanipakam, Chandragiri Fort and the Talakona falls inside Sri Venkateswara National Park all fit a spare day. Send your darshan slot and arrival details on WhatsApp and we will plan the day backwards from the timing that actually matters.

Local tip — Work backwards from your darshan slot, not forwards from breakfast. The Alipiri check gate takes time, the climb takes time, and the walk from the Tirumala parking area to the queue complex takes time on top of that. Early morning is the calmest window on the ghat road, before the day's vehicles stack up behind each other on the bends. Carry photo ID for everyone in the group, since it is needed for darshan formalities. Keep a small bag for footwear and prasadam so you are not hauling a suitcase around. If anyone plans to walk up, Srivari Mettu is much shorter than the Alipiri steps, and it makes sense to have the car meet the walkers at the top rather than send it down empty. Mention elders or wheelchair needs while booking so the right vehicle comes. And if Srikalahasti or Kanipakam is on the list, say so on day one so the driver sequences the days without doubling back.

What kind of trip in Tirupati?

Local runs around Tirupati, an airport pickup, a temple trip or a long outstation drive — same fleet, same drivers, quoted differently. Tell us which on WhatsApp and the fare comes back the same day.

What the fare includes

One fare, agreed first

Tolls, driver allowance, state permits and taxes are inside the figure we quote. There is no meter running in Tirupati traffic and nothing added at the end. A per-km rate that looks lower usually is not, once those arrive separately.

You are booking the operator

Not a marketplace. These are our own cars and our own drivers, who speak Telugu and know Tirupati. One number reaches the people running the trip — no app, no account, and no advance payment before the car arrives.

Cabs and car rental in Tirupati — FAQs

How does the ghat road up to Tirumala work?

It is a one-way loop. Vehicles climb on the Alipiri ghat road and descend on the older one, so you cannot shortcut either direction. There is a vehicle check at the Alipiri toll gate, the whole climb is bends with a strict speed limit, and the queue at the gate is the part most people forget to budget for.

Can you pick us up from Tirupati Airport at Renigunta?

Yes. Renigunta is a short run east of the city and we meet flights there regularly, as well as at Tirupati Railway Station and at Alipiri. Share your flight or train timing and where you are staying, and the driver will be waiting when you come out.

Some of us want to walk up. Can the car meet us at the top?

That is a common arrangement. The walkers take Alipiri Mettu or the shorter Srivari Mettu near Srinivasa Mangapuram, and the car carries the luggage and anyone not walking up the ghat road, then meets the group at Tirumala. Tell us the plan while booking so the timing lines up.

What else is worth adding around Tirupati?

Tiruchanur is the customary stop after Tirumala darshan and takes very little time. Srikalahasti is a comfortable drive east and pairs naturally with a Tirupati trip. With a spare day, Kanipakam, Chandragiri Fort and the Talakona falls inside Sri Venkateswara National Park are all reachable and reward an early start.

Is there a cab near me in Tirupati?

You do not need one nearby — the car comes to you. We are not a stand you walk to or a street taxi you flag down: you send an address on WhatsApp and the driver arrives there, anywhere in Tirupati — including Alipiri, Renigunta, Tiruchanoor and the areas around them. The useful thing to send is a landmark rather than a pin: the gate, the shop below, the temple on the corner. That is how the driver actually finds you, and it is faster than a map reference on a lane that has no name.

How do I tell you where to pick me up in Tirupati?

A landmark and a phone number is enough. Tirupati Airport (Renigunta), Tirupati Railway Station, Alipiri (ghat foot) and similar spots are the ones drivers know without asking — but a home address works the same way, and most of our pickups are doorstep rather than a landmark. If the lane is narrow or the gate is hard to spot, say so when you book and the driver will call as he turns in rather than leaving you to find the car.

Is this a cab service, a taxi, car rental, or car hire?

All of those names describe what we do, and around here the everyday one is "car travels" — it is what most operators in Tirupati are actually called, and what people say when they mean a car with a driver rather than a self-drive rental. Listings and search results tend to say taxi, car rental or car hire. The important part is what it is not — it is not self-drive, and it is not a metered street taxi. Every car comes with one of our own drivers, so you are hiring the car and the person driving it together, for one fare agreed before the trip rather than a meter that keeps running in traffic.
