Cabs and car rental in Visakhapatnam, with a driver.

Visakhapatnam is pressed between the Bay of Bengal and the last hills of the Eastern Ghats, and that shape decides every drive out of it. Go north along the Beach Road and you are on one of the better coastal stretches in the country, past Tenneti Park and Rushikonda towards Bheemili, with the sea on your right the whole way. Go inland and you start climbing almost at once: Simhachalam sits on a hill just outside the city, and the Araku road begins gaining height not long after Anandapuram. Go south or west on NH-16 and you are sharing the road with port and steel plant traffic around Gajuwaka, which is worth knowing before you fix a departure time.

The Araku run is the trip people ask for most, and it is a ghat drive, not a highway drive. The road climbs through Ananthagiri in long series of bends, passes the turn-off for Borra Caves, and reaches the valley in a good deal more time than the distance suggests. Mornings are the reward: mist sitting in the folds of the hills, clean air at the Galikonda viewpoint, coffee slopes that still look wet. The coastal side is the other favourite, either a slow day out to Bheemili and Yarada or the long flat NH-16 run down towards Vijayawada. Airport arrivals are simple because the airport sits inside the city near NAD, and a railway station handover works well if you are heading straight up to the hills.

Tell us on WhatsApp where you are staying and what you want to see, and the car comes to you. The fare is settled with the owner by UPI once it arrives.

Local tip — Start the Araku climb early. The bends are at their best in the first half of the morning, and you want to be off the ghat before evening rather than after it. Carry a light jacket even in April, because the valley sits high enough to turn cool once the sun drops. Borra Caves falls on the same road, so decide before you leave whether you are stopping on the way up or the way down. On the coast, the Beach Road towards Bheemili is a slow-drive road, not a fast one; give it a full afternoon and stop when you feel like it. Anything routed through Gajuwaka or the NH-16 junction needs extra time for port and steel plant shift traffic. Simhachalam is best done early as well, since the hill temple fills up through the morning. In monsoon, expect the ghat surface to be slick and the waterfalls to be worth the detour.

What kind of trip in Visakhapatnam?

Local runs around Visakhapatnam, an airport pickup, a temple trip or a long outstation drive — same fleet, same drivers, quoted differently. Tell us which on WhatsApp and the fare comes back the same day.

What the fare includes

One fare, agreed first

Tolls, driver allowance, state permits and taxes are inside the figure we quote. There is no meter running in Visakhapatnam traffic and nothing added at the end. A per-km rate that looks lower usually is not, once those arrive separately.

You are booking the operator

Not a marketplace. These are our own cars and our own drivers, who speak Telugu and know Visakhapatnam. One number reaches the people running the trip — no app, no account, and no advance payment before the car arrives.

Cabs and car rental in Visakhapatnam — FAQs

How long is the drive from Visakhapatnam to Araku?

Plan on three to four hours each way in normal conditions. The distance is modest but almost all of it is ghat road, with a long run of bends through Ananthagiri, so it cannot be rushed and should not be. Most people leave early, spend the day in the valley, and come down while there is still light.

Can we stop at Borra Caves on the way to Araku?

Yes. The turn-off is on the same road, so it fits either on the way up or on the way down, and deciding before you leave changes how you pace the rest of the day. Inside, the caves are cool, damp and uneven underfoot, so wear shoes with some grip.

Where in Visakhapatnam can you pick us up?

Visakhapatnam Airport, Visakhapatnam Railway Station, RK Beach, MVP Colony and Gajuwaka are the regular points, and we will come to a hotel or a house anywhere in the city. Pick whichever is nearest to where you are staying rather than whichever landmark is best known.

Which coastal drives are worth doing from Vizag?

The Beach Road north past Tenneti Park and Rushikonda to Bheemili is the classic, and it is a stop-when-you-like drive rather than a fast one. Yarada, south past the Dolphin's Nose side, is the quieter option. With a full day, the NH-16 run south towards Vijayawada is flat and easy on everyone.

Is there a cab near me in Visakhapatnam?

You do not need one nearby — the car comes to you. We are not a stand you walk to or a street taxi you flag down: you send an address on WhatsApp and the driver arrives there, anywhere in Visakhapatnam — including Gajuwaka, MVP Colony, Dwaraka Nagar and the areas around them. The useful thing to send is a landmark rather than a pin: the gate, the shop below, the temple on the corner. That is how the driver actually finds you, and it is faster than a map reference on a lane that has no name.

How do I tell you where to pick me up in Visakhapatnam?

A landmark and a phone number is enough. Visakhapatnam Airport, Visakhapatnam Railway Station, RK Beach and similar spots are the ones drivers know without asking — but a home address works the same way, and most of our pickups are doorstep rather than a landmark. If the lane is narrow or the gate is hard to spot, say so when you book and the driver will call as he turns in rather than leaving you to find the car.

Is this a cab service, a taxi, car rental, or car hire?

All of those names describe what we do, and around here the everyday one is "car travels" — it is what most operators in Visakhapatnam are actually called, and what people say when they mean a car with a driver rather than a self-drive rental. Listings and search results tend to say taxi, car rental or car hire. The important part is what it is not — it is not self-drive, and it is not a metered street taxi. Every car comes with one of our own drivers, so you are hiring the car and the person driving it together, for one fare agreed before the trip rather than a meter that keeps running in traffic.
