NH-765, passing through Amangal, Kalwakurthy, Achampet, Mannanur. Four-lane as far as Kalwakurthy, then the Nallamala forest and the ghat descent to the dam — sharp bends and a slower second half. The forest stretch past Mannanur closes overnight, so this is a daylight drive.

The NH-765 run into Srisailam has a ghat section, so it takes longer than 215 km suggests — build that into the start time rather than the car. That fits inside a single day's 300 km, so a Swift Dzire handles it for four and the car is back the same night; six or seven means an Ertiga, Carens or Rumion, and a tempo traveller above that. All of them come with a local, Telugu-speaking driver.

Rajiv Gandhi International sits on the southern edge of Hyderabad — the same side the Srisailam road leaves from, so a pickup at arrivals does not mean crossing the city first. It is how most devotees flying in from out of state make this trip: land, meet the driver, and go. One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and far enough from anywhere that almost nobody arrives without a car waiting. The driver stays at the temple through the darshan and the trip is quoted as a return from the start, because there is no practical way to find a ride back.

Most people take in the Srisailam dam and the ghat viewpoints on the same trip. They are short stops on the way rather than a detour, so tell the driver at the start and he builds them in instead of turning back for them.

Most drivers break around Kalwakurthy, roughly halfway between Hyderabad and Srisailam. The road passes Amangal, Kalwakurthy, Achampet, Mannanur, so you can stop wherever suits — tell the driver and he will plan the halt around it.
